This jacket is made from an early 20th Century Suzani from Samarkand, Central Asia. Hand embroidered on woven cotton.
Suzani's are characterized as artisanal tribal textiles traditionally made for decorative and ceremonial purposes. Often used to hang in the entryway of religious practices and gatherings, or in yurts of nomadic people.
