1940 Tied Wool Missouri Quilt Jacket (M)


This jacket is made from a 1940 tied wool patchwork quilt. It resided in a family in Springfield, Missouri over decades. Hand quilted small squares and large squares of wool, tweed, houndstooth and solids; hand pieced from remnants of suiting fabrics. The lining is original to the quilt; a purple and deep pink striped flannel. Bound with red cotton trim and tied red yarn.

Five front buttons. Three front pockets.

Size medium 28" front body length, a 27.5" back body length, a 20" shoulder, a 46" chest, and a 34" sleeve length.


Each textile bares marks of the past. All signs of wear, character, stains and mending are reminders of its' history, and original to every carefully curated and preserved textile. Hand made in California.
