This jacket is made from an early 1900's double wedding ring quilt. This quilt pattern has long been a symbol of love and romance. Interlocking rings symbolize marriage, while the quilt is traditionally made by mothers and grandmothers for their children and given as gifts on their weddings or anniversaries. This one was made by a mother named Mildred for her daughter and son in law, and presented on their wedding day as a token of a long healthy marriage. The couple cherrished the quilt for decades.
