Stan X Along Duffel Jacket (M)
This jaket is made from a WWII duffel bag. Screen printed with images of "Swami's" beach, the local break where I learned to surf, and Encinitas skateboarding activities.
Created through a collaborative process between Stan and David Lopez of 'Along'. Lopez, an Encinitas local handcraft surfboard and skateboard shaper and nature photographer, and I, met four months ago when I asked for some of his artisan surfboards for the Stan showroom. As we conversed about craft and artisanship, he mentioned his collection of WWII laundry and duffel bags; attracted to their worn qualities and history. As if the surf gods aligned us, we joined to create process driven, craft-heightened, deeply-rooted, California entrenched, works of wearable art.
