This jacket is made from a c.1860 Maine friendship quilt made and signed for a wedding. Hand stitched with a variety of cotton calico prints of the era, it contains 35 squares of which 34 are lovingly hand signed with black ink. Some of the names include Mother, Grandmother, Damon, Trent, Lewis, Wolden, Billings. Signed and presented as a wedding gift.
This jacket shows various signs of wear including tears along the top fabric surface on the inner arm. These idiosyncracies are unique to the garment.
